DIETARY FIBER

Dietary Fiber is the edible part of plants or analogous carbohydrates that, if taken, are resistant to human digestion and absorption in the small intestine, with complete or partial fermentation in the large intestine. They are present in fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, seeds, legumes, nuts and truffles. Dietary fibers are of various types and produce effects different physiological and very useful to our body such as in the case of pectin ( containing soluble fiber in fruits, vegetables and legumes ) there is a control of blood sugar and cholesterol levels, while in the case of cellulose ( insoluble fiber containing cereals, dried fruit ) there is a regulation of intestinal peristalsis. Dietary fibers are the polysaccharides, namely sugars, but, precisely because of their structure, they are not used by the body as an energy source, but rather having on the latter, detoxifying and anti-cancer properties, reducing the use of calories and fats, by changing the PH and the composition of feces, urine, intestinal flora and the activity of enzymes of the colon.
